MP Tennis began from one man's love for the game of tennis. Mike Pratt moved to the Tampa area in 1993 to pursue his favorite sport in an active environment. Instructing at Saddlebrook Resort and Northdale Tennis Club, Mike saw a need for a true tennis specialy store in North Tampa. In 1998 he opened the first MP Tennis store in Carrollwood.

MP Tennis currently has two locations in the North Tampa area. Since opening in 1998, MP Tennis promotes tennis to thousands of Tampa residents and visitors. The original store grew to a a second opening in 2002. In 2005, he saw another opportunity to grow tennis in Tampa.

Judy Alavarez started a tennis facility in the mid 1970's and became one of the first tennis clubs in Tampa. MP Tennis continues her dream with a full service tennis haven for adults and children. The MP Tennis Center become the only privately-owned public tennis facility in Tampa. After 6 years we moved the second store location from New Tampa to the MP Tennis Center to help grow the public facility with a full service store and more staff. Many years of renovation created the MP Tennis Center of today. We offer 8 lit courts, 5 red clay and 3 hard, a full service tennis specialty proshop on site, beautiful locker rooms, gazebos, new stadium lights, and a fun environment for all levels of tennis players.
